Island Batik ambassadors are hosting Winter Wonderland this month! The fabric is fun–light and dark blue strips… but what to make? Well, I’ve been decided on making some fun mug rugs!
I really like Quilting on the Square’s monthly Newsletter because it has small free patterns that are fun to make. The swirly squares on the left were a little paper piece challenge from their December newsletter.
As a Certified Instructor for Judy Niemeyer I have the opportunity to “proof” patterns this past summer. One of her new patterns is called Broken Daisy Placemats. When given the pattern this summer I was also given a couple copies of the pattern, 1/4 sized. I thought at the time that they would make cute mug rugs. I made one, just to try it… IT TURNED OUT SO CUTE!
I think they will be great to use when I sip cocoa in my new house. I added a backing and a little batt and stitched it all up.
Overall it was a crazy busy month and even though I started this early, I finished it late! I also planned on a couple more Broken Daisy mug rugs. They make a fun decoration for the upcoming winter solstice since I think they look like the sun!
